3 Days, 3 Quotes Challenge

I love quotes! They are full of insight, and leave the reader transformed in just a few, short sentences. And some of them are just, worth mulling over for days.

My quotes for day 1 is:

How happy is the blameless vestal’s lot!
The world forgetting, by the world forgot.
Eternal sunshine of the spotless mind!
Each pray’r accepted, and each wish resign’d.
     -Alexander Pope, Eloisa to Abelard.

This is a really beautiful Quote, which I  discovered after watching one of my favourite movies, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (watch it if you haven’t done so).
In the context of the movie, it talks along the lines of ‘Ignorance is Bliss’, the joy one gets of having a mind thats forgotten past displeasure, something which many of you, I’m sure, would like to.

My quotes for day 2 is:

You spend your whole life stuck in the labyrinth, thinking about how you’ll escape one day, and how awesome it will be, and imagining that future keeps you going, but you never do it. You just use the future to escape the present.                    -John Green, Looking for Alaska

It’s just..one of those quotes which hit you quite like a train.
We all think we’re working towards escaping our current life and building something brilliant and wonderful. We just need the motivation to get through the harder moments in life, regardless of where our aim is. Big dreams.

My Quote for day 3 is

Hey. Don’t ever let somebody tell you… You can’t do something..
You got a dream. You gotta protect it. People can’t do somethin’ themselves, they wanna tell you you can’t do it. If you want somethin’, go get it. Period.
-Christopher Gardner, The Pursuit of Happyness

Will Smith is one of my favourite actors. The Pursuit of Happyness is based on the true story of Chris struggle. Its a very inspiring movie, filled up with quotes and incidents like-

Anyway, I’ve watched it around 5 times yet, and I’ve enjoyed it all 5 times.
The quote shows how important it is when nothing seems to be going your way to always, always remember your aim. To latch onto it, because thats the reason you are existing for, and no one can tell you otherwise.

  1. Ooh, this is pretty! I have to see this movie! Although, the name sounds really familiar. If not the complete thing, then I’m pretty sure I’ve seen bits and pieces of it.

  2. This is one of my favorite movies 🙂 I have also written a review for this movie in my blog space. The quote is taken from the poem by Alexander Pope
which is a love letter from Eloisa to Abelard 🙂
